This weekend....

I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend!  Ours was pretty nice... full of activities, but not too many which is a great balance.

On Friday - J and his brother spent the late morning/early afternoon putting a trellis around our fence so Jake (our puppy) can't escape anymore.  He's so small he would fit through the slats in our fence and I was that girl who was always chasing after her dog with her pajamas on - ugh!  I'm so happy they got it done, and now he can go in the backyard and I don't have to worry about him escaping.

Saturday we went to our friend's wedding, it was gorgeous and we had such a great time.  It was nice to enjoy an evening out among adults without the kids.  Of course, I waited until the last minute to shop for a dress, found one that I loved and looked great on, it was a little long but I thought it would be ok when I put heels on - wrong!  It was still too long and I didn't get to wear it, I didn't want to be stepping on it all night.  I was so bummed I wasted my time looking.  I ended up wearing something I already had in my closet and was kicking myself for waiting until the last minute to buy something.

Sunday was a relaxing day around the house.  It consisted of football and organizing.  My sister-in-law and brother-in-law came over in the evening and we drank some wine and hung out, it was a nice ending to our weekend.

What did you do this past weekend?  Any last minute shoppers out there?!

I hope you all have a great Monday!

Five on Friday!

Happy Friday Everyone!!  There's no better feeling than a Friday :)

As usual, I'm linking up for Five on Friday

one:  As much fun as we had in Oregon - there's no place like home!  I'm happy to be back and be in our home and get into the swing of things... although I am already missing the beautiful scenery and our family - until next time :)

two: SO excited that Parenthood started up again.  It hadn't been on TV since January I think and it's one of our favorite shows.  Anyone else hooked on Parenthood?

three:  We have a wedding this weekend for our good friends and I'm so happy for them.  I'm also happy for a night out without the kids (thanks mom-in-law!) I'm sure the wedding will be gorgeous and that we'll have a great time!

four:  I am LOVING these bracelets!  And the set  of 12 is only $38 which I think is a great price!

five:  I just got this Autumn Day candle recently from Bath & Body Works - I'm obsessed with their candles and this one smells SO good!  It's a definite must buy... next on my list is trying some of their pumpkin scents - any recommendations?

That's it for this Friday, I hope you all have a great weekend :)

Oregon Part 1

We're back, we had such a great time!  The kids behaved better than I could have ever imagined on the plane and adjusted so well to the time change - they were troopers!

We really soaked in time with the family and took the kids to some fun places while we were there.  The kids had a blast with all of the family and had a great time playing with their cousins or as E would call them, her "nephews".

Here are some pics of our trip, I am going to break the trip up in a couple of posts so I don't make you crazy with too many pictures.

Watching Rio on the plane

It's so relaxing in Oregon most mornings we woke up, we drank coffee and went outside.  The kids loved playing in the yard (JZs uncle has 2 acres of land).  They have tons of fruit trees, vegetables and have a chicken coup.  It was nice for the kids to be able to experience that - they loved every minute of it.

Pumpkins!

Jonah loved this parked boat

The day after we got in we went to the dam to see Salmon coming into the river and we also got to feed some fish.  It was such a gorgeous day.

Feeding the fish

After seeing the fish we stopped by Multnomah falls - a gorgeous waterfall.  I've been there on other visits to Oregon and I never get tired of seeing it.  You can also hike all of the way to the top, which we've done before, the view from the top is amazing!

Oregon is such a gorgeous place, I'd love to move there one day!  I'll finish our vacation recap next week.

Have a great day everyone!

I thought I'd take you all on a little walk down memory lane....

Guest Post: Natasha at Schue Love

Hi Everyone!
I'm so excited to have Natasha from Schue Love guest posting for me.  I've been reading her blog for a long time and love it!!  She's also helped answer a lot of my blogging questions, which I truly appreciate :)

Thank you Natasha for being so kind and guest posting here

Hi Kids and Cabernet readers...I'm Natasha from Schue Love!  I told Amanda I would help fill in while she takes off on vacation...lucky girl!!!  When I think of vacation...I ultimately think of crystal clear waters, a cocktail with an umbrella, and sleeping in crisp white sheets.  In other words...pure relaxation.  This type of ultimate vacation is not in the cards anytime soon, but I thought I would take advantage of Amanda's absence to dream about the possibilities!  :)

For starters, I would forget the traditional bungalows...I would love to sleep on a boat like this and be rocked to sleep every night!

But of course, I would want a tub like this in the room...along with lounge areas outside.  Perfection!

I would relax here....

or here!

And I would wear this...

And drink these!

I would nap here...

or here!

Last, I would get a massage poolside...here!

All images can be found on my Vacation board.

Sounds pretty nice, right?  It's fun to dream!!!  Thanks to Amanda for allowing me to do so today!

Tray problems

So I got this tray for our living room ottoman....

Pretty huh? I thought it looked nice with our pillows and I could put some pops of yellow or something bright to break up all of the blue, and add some nice color. This is the living room I'm trying to draw inspiration from - I love it!

The problem I have is Jonah.  He either pushes the tray to the floor OR sits in the tray like he's on a sled! I can't think of what to put on the tray that wont break, or spill, or be destroyed.  Do any of you have any ideas on how I can style this toddler proof?

I hope you all have a great Thursday! We're having a lot of fun and can't wait to share pictures and tell you all about it!

Guest Post - Nat Your Average Girl

Hi everyone!!
Today I have one of my favorite bloggers guest posting for me while I'm on vacation. I absolutely love her blog, and love reading about her and her cute family - her baby girl is adorable!

Thank you so much Natalie!

Hi! My name is Natalie and I'm over here from Nat Your Average Girl. First of all a big thank you to Amanda for having me! While she is away on a much deserved vacation, I thought I would pop in and tell you about my favorite vacation spot. If I'm not on a budget it would be somewhere tropical, like Maui...

but in reality that was pre-baby and the thought of taking that six hour plane flight with an 18 month old sends me running! Our more budget friendly (and toddler friendly) vacation spot of choice would be our local beach, San Clemente...

enjoying the community pool where my parents' house is

we love bike riding around the neighborhood

the harbor has a great beach for baby

i love walking the beach trail

the sweet life
For all you southern California folk, I highly recommend this place! It's in Orange County but doesn't have the pretentious vibe that other cities in that county have. And if you aren't from around here then come and visit! We would love to have you! Thanks again to Amanda for having me!
